TOP 5 BENEFITS OF POLYUREA

Polyurea is a seamless spray applied two part liquid coating. Polyurea was developed in the USA in the early 60's and they wave been taking advantage of the product ever since. Polyurea is used in many different industries from roofing to flooring and even in the film industry. The main industry that have taken advantage of polyurea is the fracking industry, for the use of temporary containment or contaminated water and liquids. Below are 5 of the many benefits of polyurea.

CURES IN 3 SECONDS

Yep that's right, 3 seconds. Once the two part system has left the mixing chamber of the gun it is touch dry and can take light traffic in just 3 seconds. So the back to work time of this product after application is really as fast as you can pack up your tools and load them into your van. Gone are the days of waiting hours or even days before a newly applied coating can take just foot traffic

SPEED OF APPLICATION

Because Polyurea is spray, applied the rate of application is unmatched compared to the traditional hand applied method. In one working day, with a good high quality, high pressure reactor (not these cheap Chinese things) 750m2 - 1000m2 @ 2mm thick is easily achievable.

DURABILITY/ABRASION CHARACTERISTICS

OK now this is where Polyurea really out trumps everyone else. Back in the gulf war the US military carried small portable reactors. When a vehicle has his by a bullet or shrapnel they just filled the holes with polyurea, and off they went. US embassies in high risk areas around the world are internally lined with polyurea, this serves as a blast containment system protecting the people inside from any shrapnel from an external blast. Below is a screen shop from the American show Blast Labs, where they but polyurea through rigorous blast tests to really test its durability.

RESISTANT TO VARIOUS SOLVENTS, CAUSTICS AND MILD ACIDS

Lets use bund lining as an example, if you store hazardous materials in for example a storage tank then by law as a business you need to have a secondary containment system in place to prevent the material escaping should the main storage unit fail. Now in the past companies would build a concrete wall around the tank and paint on an epoxy coating as epoxies are extremely chemical resistant. But epoxy is very rigid and tends to crash over large areas. unlike epoxy polyurea has a high elasticity with high surface hardness and chemical resistance.

HIGH HEAT TEMPERATURE TOLERANCES (-65ºF to 350ºF)

From freezer room floors to the splash of hot oil on the kitchen floor. From bund liners in the arctic to flat roofs in the Sahara, there''s really no limits to where polyurea can be used.

So if your interested in whether polyurea can be used on your project, give us a call and we'll be glad to discuss it with you.
